Bit E1 – Jonathan Field Horsemanship/Myler Stainless Steel Eggbutt with 5” Sweet Iron Mouthpiece, Low Port Comfort Snaffle. 

Bit E1 will rotate on the tongue and apply tongue pressure, however, it has a small (¼”) port that introduces some tongue relief to the horse. The port allows the horse to swallow and move his tongue when he is moving forward and relaxed, which acts as a release or reward. The mouthpiece is curved, and it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. 

Sweet Iron: In this exceptional collaboration between Jonathan Field Horsemanship and the Myler Bit Line, we are excited to introduce a unique Sweet Iron mouthpiece for an English Bit. This Sweet Iron mouthpiece is the only one of its kind in the entire Myler Bit Line and is specifically designed for this collaboration, enhancing the overall experience for both horse and rider. The Sweet Iron mouthpiece is made from live steel, providing a better taste for horses compared to steel that has had all the minerals cooked out of it. Sweet iron mouthpieces oxidize (rust) and encourage salivation and a more relaxed jaw, promoting better communication and connection with the rider. Additionally, the barrel is constructed from stainless steel for enhanced durability, ensuring long-lasting performance for years to come.

Ported Bits: A port can be beneficial for a horse as it provides additional space for the tongue, making it more comfortable for the horse to swallow and promoting relaxation. By accommodating the tongue and reducing pressure on sensitive areas, a ported bit can encourage a horse to accept the bit more willingly, leading to improved communication between the horse and rider. It is essential to choose the appropriate port height and bit design to suit the individual horse’s needs, ensuring their comfort and well-being during riding.

An eggbutt is a traditional cheek style which keeps the mouthpiece from draping on the tongue, providing a more direct signal than the loose ring. The straight side of the eggbutt will not pull through the mouth and does not pinch. For a more versatile version, see the eggbutt with hooks.
